South London FQP News

Initial scoping work on behalf of Croydon and Bromley Councils to identify the key issues relating to the development of Delivery and Servicing Plans (DSPs) for their premises has now been completed. We are now working closely with the same three Boroughs to use the results from the initial scoping studies to progress towards integrating the DSP concept within each organisation’s existing policies.

Merton Council has just published a local guide showing the loading and unloading facilities available in Wimbledon in order to help those making and receiving deliveries in the area. We are also in discussions with Merton Council to ensure that delivery and servicing issues are properly addressed as part of potential changes to the area around Wimbledon station.

We recently held two extremely interesting and informative guided visits to the Day Aggregates railheads in Purley and Tolworth. All those who attended found it useful to see how these modern state of the art rail facilities function and to hear about the major environmental benefits that result from the diversion of many long distance HGV trips from road to rail. Thanks go to all involved at Day Aggregates for their help with the visits.

The SLFQP work programme for 2009/10 is well underway. In particular:

  • Fieldwork for the signage review of the South Wimbledon Business Area is now complete and a report documenting our observations and recommendations is currently being reviewed by Merton Council
  • A survey of delivery activity in Sutton Town Centre has been completed as the initial element of the area’s delivery review project. A report of the study findings is currently being reviewed by Sutton Council
  • A review of the Kingston Town Centre Delivery Zoning Scheme has been conducted and the draft report is currently being reviewed by the London Borough of Kingston.

Once approved these reports will all be posted in the publications section of this website.
